Middle School Introduction to Spanish

Cost: $425 / semester

This high-energy class meets for an 1 1/2 hours in-person at PCLC each Thursday. Class provides an opportunities to practice conversing in Spanish using weekly assigned vocabulary, games, group activities along with more rigorous quizzes and exams to prepare students for High School Spanish. Students will be introduced to Latin American history, culture and geography. Students will be assigned engaging homework throughout the week that requires internet access.

Edpuzzle - assignments include watching videos of Spanish instructors and native Spanish speakers. Students practice comprehension by answering multiple choice questions.

Garbanzo - assignments include reading interactive stories and answering related questions.

Senor Wooley -activities increase comprehension through music videos making learning more fun and engaging.

Blooket - students review vocabulary utilizing interactive games.

Quizlet - Weekly flashcards provided to practice and learn new Spanish words.

Flipgrid- Students make videos of self speaking Spanish using vocabulary and topics presented in class to be turned into the instructor via Flipgrid.

Common Vocabulary such as numbers 1-100, days of the week, months, colors, clothes, foods, parts of the body,common classroom objects and polite expressions.

Asking and answering simple questions in present tense about common topics

Reading passages with simple vocabulary and sentence structure.

Writing sentences and/or short paragraphs in the present tense about topics studied.

Introduction to countries where Spanish is spoken around the world, to include geography, cultures, traditions, foods.
